I hold active medical licenses in the states of New York (since 1983) and Connecticut (since 2010) and recently in California (since May 2012). I am a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners since 1983. I have been Board Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology since 1987. I obtained in 1994 and still possess Added Qualifications in Geriatric Psychiatry, a certification which requires passing a periodic examination demonstrating ongoing education in the field.

PROFESSIONAL SOCIETIES

I am a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, an honor which is given to those members who demonstrate intense dedication to the field and practice of Psychiatry. I am also a member of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry and the American Association of Anatomists.

MENTORING OF PROFESSIONAL COLLEAGUES

I have 18 years of experience directly mentoring colleagues in the field of geriatric mental health. My expertise has helped prepare professionals for positions such as Directors, Supervisors, Program Coordinators and Nurse Practitioners in several clinical programs.

SYMPOSIA, PRESENTATIONS AND INVITED LECTURES

For over 30 years, I have had an audience and delivered my expertise in over 50 symposia, presentations and invited lectures throughout the United States and internationally. My speeches have often been delivered to professionals and in national meetings of esteemed medical societies. I also lecture to the public to increase awareness about mental health issues.

PUBLICATIONS

I have published academic writings in professional journals and chapters in seminal texts on geriatric medicine and emergency psychiatry.

TRAINING IN DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY (DBT)

I am certified by Behavioral Tech, LLC as being intensively trained in DBT. Attending live seminars and thoroughly researching keeps me current with DBT skills and therapy concepts.
